Steel Melting
Shop

The steel melting shop at Shri Ram Castech produces a liquid metal of 5mt/ht. giving us an ability to produce
4000 kgs single pc casting.

The induction furnace is fed 24 hours round the clock electric supply, vide an 11 kv independent feeder, ensuring our customers get on time delivery of products. Steel after being melted in the induction furnace undergoes a special treatment, ensuring cleaner melts with lower gases and nonmetallic inclusions. Raw materials are procured from SRC certified suppliers only, which are selected by our procurement team through a screening process, leaving no room for any b grade suppliers.

Pattern Shop

Shri Ram Castech produces moulds out of no bake sand, from its patterns. We have special expertise to produce quality patterns in wood and aluminum.

Our pattern making & method expertise is second to none in our field. All moulds produced from our no bake plant utilize high quality sand, imported from Turkey. No bake sand gives superior surface finish compared to other sand systems, provides high dimensional accuracy to the moulds, superior sand control system utilizing programmable control logic and reduced manual intervention, since the sand is fed automatically.

Heat Treatment

SRC operates a fully automated heat treatment facility
with a monthly capacity exceeding 1,000 tons,
powered by clean PNG fuel. The entire heat treatment process is recorded on a real time graph.

Before heat treatment, risers and gates are removed from the castings. We retort to mechanical removal of risers and gates from the casting. Once done, the castings are moved to heat treatment. Close temperature control during heat treatment is maintained to ensure uniformity. Quench time and water temperatures are closely controlled and recorded for each and every cycle. Quenching Tank of capacity 4000 KL. (400,000 liter) with additional tank of same capacity for circulation of water is used during quenching. PNG which is petrified natural gas is used as a fuel for heat treatment. Once heat treated, the product is moved to our fettling and grinding shop for de-burring and riser stub removal. Once done the product is now ready to be machined.

SCADA Control Systems

  • Remote operation and monitoring via SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition).
  • Ensures precise adherence to HT cycles with no possibility of manual interference.

Advanced Quenching Systems

  • 400 KL quenching tank with a dedicated circulation tank.
  • Mechanical agitators ensure a water exit velocity of 2.5 m/sec leading to Better Microstructure

Machine shop

Shri Ram Castech has an in-house machine shop
ensuring that our customers have an end to end
solution with shorter delivery times.

Extensive range of machines from VTLs, Planomiller to Algamills, ensure rounds up to 2,500 mm diameter, and flats up to 4,000 mm long can be machined in-house.

With zero dependency on outsourcing vendors, better and shorter lead times are ensured. A greater dimensional accuracy is achieved since the process is in house.

Inspection

Once machined, the components are inspected thoroughly on our 2000 x 2000 mm marking table which ensures accurate measurements leaving no room for errors.

All the products supplied to customer are checked and a final inspection report is created. All the measuring instruments are calibrated from time to time in line as per IS standards

Lab & Testing
Facilities

We hold all the lab and testing facilities essential for producing high quality Manganese steel castings:

Chemical Analysis

Accurate chemical analysis is ensured through Spectro lab Germany, 22 channels, considered the best in its class.

Metallurgical Testing

Metallurgical microscope with Image analyzer (Dewinter, Italy) up to 500X magnification, is available for Micro structural analysis.

Mould and Sand Testing

  • Sand UTM: We have a sand UTM which is used to check tensile, transverse & compression strength of sand moulds.
  • Sieve shaker: Sieve shaker is used for sieve analysis ensuring consistent quality of sand.
  • Scratch hardness tester: Same is used to check scratch hardness of moulds produced on daily basis.
  • Muffle furnace: Muffle furnace is used to check loss on ignition. This shall help us in calculating the salt deposition percentage on sand.

NDT (Non destructive testing)

Shri ram castech currently, has tie-ups with outsourcing vendors for NDT testing, Our outsourcing vendors are qualified and hold accreditation from NABL, the most prestigious certifying agency in India.
